One of my all-time favorite Adam Sandler movies is Happy Gilmore! From Happy’s fight with Bob Barker on the golf course to his memorable trainer Chubbs Peterson (RIP Carl Weathers), whose hand was taken by a crocodile, and of course, Happy’s nemesis Shooter McGavin (Christopher Mcdonald)—it’s a classic comedy. That’s why it was such a treat when Sandler and Netflix teased fans with a Happy Gilmore 2 trailer on Christmas Day (12/25)! Can you believe it’s been almost 30 years since the original?
The trailer features Happy in his iconic hockey jersey, alongside Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who makes his acting debut. It will be interesting to see the size of his role and how his comedic timing measures up against Sandler’s, as well as how the new characters, played by musicians like Bad Bunny and Kid Cudi, add to the story. The trailer concludes with a nostalgic reunion between Happy and Shooter McGavin. I can’t wait to watch the full film and spot any other cameos, such as Eminem, which were teased. Happy Gilmore 2 is set to release in July 2025 on Netflix, and I just hope it lives up to the original! Check out the trailer here.
