The 1984 Prince movie Purple Rain is getting a re-release in Dolby Cinema at AMC Theatres locations for one night only March 5th! Prince took home an Oscar for Best Original Song Score for the movie, which grossed $70.2 million, massive for a stateside release back in the day. The soundtrack went platinum 13 times, becoming Prince’s first album to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for 24 consecutive weeks, staying on the chart for a total of 167 weeks. There were several hits including “When Doves Cry”, “Let’s Go Crazy”, “Purple Rain” and “I Would Die 4 U”.
