From “Ice Man” in Top Gun to “Doc Holiday” in Tombstone, Val Kilmer made so many roles memorable. In honor of the legendary actor who passed away Tuesday, (04.01,) here’s some stuff about him you may not have known. Before he was a household name, in 1981 Kilmer became the youngest drama student to be admitted to Juilliard. Kilmer turned down the lead roles of “Ponyboy” in The Outsiders and “Johnny Castle” in Dirty Dancing. A part he did take and embody was that of Jim Morrison in The Doors. While filming the movie Kilmer broke his arm. It happened when he performed a jump from the stage into the crowd and a stuntman failed to catch him. Kilmer who was 65 passed away from pneumonia according to his daughter who said he was surrounded by loved ones.
